Although it's perfectly fine to not do anything fancy and use the affiliate program "out of the box" by just logging into affiliateshop and using the banners and linking codes you find over there, some of you may want to finesse the way you promote us and use the program. Here's a few tips and secrets to how it all works.
Here's a typical linking code for our program:
The AID=XXXXXX is simply your affiliate account number and the optional BID=XXXX is just a banner ID which allows us (and you) to track which banners are converting well. The BID number is optional and you will still get credit if you leave the BID out of the code. The AID number is absolutely neccessary and you will not get credit if this is left out of the code
Most people are happy linking to the homepage, afterall it gives visitors a good overview of everything we have to offer. To link to this page is simple, just use the following linking code and this will give you credit for any sales made from the traffic you send our way:
http://www.jockstrapcentral.com?AID=XXXXXX
...just remember to replace the XXXXXX with your AID affiliate code

Although all the banners and linking codes over on the banner farm on Affiliateshop are linking to the JockstrapCentral.com homepage, it's possible (and relatively easy) to link to any page. You just have to understand how to use the right link.
To link to a different page (like a specific product page) Simply go to the page in a browser and copy the URL in the address bar. If the URL has a query at the end of it (the part after the ?) then you simply add "&AID=XXXXXX&BID=XXXX" (without the quotation marks) to the end of the url. If there is no Query string at the end (no "?") then you just simply add "?AID=XXXXXX&BID=XXXX" to the end. This is your new linking code. Just remember to replace the XXXXXX of the AID with your affiliate code! For example:
If you wanted to link to our Go Softwear Black Snap Jock product page you would just go to that page and find the following url in the address bar:
you can see from the link that there is already a query string after the url (the part followed by the "?") So you would just have to add the "AID=XXXXXX to the URL and use that in your A Href tag like so:

It really isn't too complicated. Our pages read the query string with the AID and BID codes. A simple invisible pixel tells AffiliateShop to place a cookie on the customers computer. When the customer gets to the end of the checkout, a similar graphic checks the cookie to determine who gets the commission.
